Daegu Opera House
Celebrating its 22nd anniversary in 2025, Daegu Opera House is the only producing opera house in South Korea. Since its establishment in 2003, the institution has been dedicated to advancing the art of opera and contributing to Daegu’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
With a strong commitment to artistic excellence, Daegu Opera House has staged a wide array of high-quality productions and expanded its international presence through collaborative performances in countries such as Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, China, Germany, and most notably, at the 2025 Saaremaa Opera Festival in Estonia.
Also, the theater annually hosts the Daegu International Opera Festival, one of the most prestigious opera festivals in Asia.
Today, Daegu Opera House stands as a vibrant cultural hub where tradition meets innovation, and where creativity, artistry, and collaboration flourish. Every note, every scene, and every performance is a celebration of Korean opera and its enduring legacy on the global stage.
